Proudly Serving Wilmington, DE

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK is joined by the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL. Having two Wrangler models multiplies the fun. You can get these in the two-door style or the four-door Wrangler Unlimited style. These two generations of Jeeps are similar in capability, but there are some differences that will make them appeal to different types of shoppers.

Performance

Jeep enthusiasts will be happy to know that the JK is continuing Wrangler's best-in-class V6. Power outlay is 285 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. JK models come with a six-speed manual transmission and a six-speed automatic option. CommandTrac and RockTrac systems offer to take you far off the beaten path. Terrain management regulates how the Jeep responds to difficult surfaces.

Thankfully, JL editions have the same powerful engine and manual transmission. However, Jeep is offering a new eight-speed automatic option on all models. Another difference is the JL build. Having used more high strength aluminum in more places, Jeep was able to reduce the weight of Wrangler JL. Both four-wheel drivetrains are still offered, but the JL Sahara will offer an all-wheel drive alternative. You can be sure the JL has the same crawling and fording capabilities as the JK.

Appearance

The iconic appeal of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK is matched by that of the JL. Both wear the special shape, high-mounted bumpers, and model-specific seven-slot grille. They are offered in many trims, letting you choose a customized look that's been prepared for you at the factory. Standards include reclining front seats and folding second-row benches. JL interiors are bit dressier with options such as tan seating surfaces on the entry level Sport edition. Like many Jeeps, Wrangler JL cabins have illuminated cup holders.

JK models offer a black soft-top, a premium Sunrider black soft-top, and a three-piece hard-top in black or body color. With the JL, Jeep simplifies how the Sunrider roof works. The premium cover is offered in black or tan. Like the JK, you can remove doors and fold down the front window. Further simplifying life, the JL offers the Sky One Touch Power Top. It is power-operated rather than manual. JL models are slightly bigger than JK models. This has resulted in bigger windows and better cargo capacity. In these models, if you fold the seats, you'll have a surprising 74 cu.ft. of space for cargo.

Features

JK models offer the UConnect system on higher models. JL models start off with the five-inch touchscreen and offer the larger screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A rearview camera is a JL standard. You can get a blind spot monitoring system to help you avoid side swipes. A rear cross-traffic alert will help you avoid hitting other cars when the Wrangler is in reverse gear.

There's much to explore about both the 2018 Wrangler JK and the 2018 Wrangler JL. Check out your many choices at Brandywine Jeep.
